Years 9 and 10 are our Exploration Years—a crucial stage where students begin preparing for the HSC and the responsibilities of senior school. During this time, students broaden their understanding, strengthen essential skills, and learn how to navigate the expectations of senior study. Through guided support, structured learning, and opportunities for self-discovery, we help students understand their strengths, build confidence, and develop the habits needed to thrive in Years 11 and 12. These years are all about exploration, readiness, and laying the foundation for success in the HSC and beyond

Deepening Knowledge

Years 9 and 10 help students further deepen their knowledge in key areas like English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, and PDHPE. Building on earlier learning, these crucial years sharpen skills and encourage thoughtful, critical thinking about the world.

Personal Development

At Alpha Omega, (PD) sits at the heart of school life, not just on the timetable. Through weekly talks, short courses, projects, activities and study sessions, the program shapes students’ mindset, character and life skills. PD builds a strong sense of community, encourages hard work and effective study habits, and helps students communicate, lead, manage technology wisely and think beyond themselves—preparing them for both academic success and life beyond school.

Year Adviser

Each year group at Alpha Omega is supported by a dedicated Year Advisor, giving students a consistent point of guidance and care throughout their journey. Year Advisors monitor student progress and work closely with families and teachers to support both wellbeing and learning. They run fortnightly sessions that focus on practical skills such as study habits, organisation, teamwork, communication, goal setting and managing challenges, so students always have someone they can turn to for advice, encouragement and support.

Year 9-10 Enrolment Process

  1. Enquiry – Parents/carers can express interest online or by contacting the school (phone/email/in person).
  2. Assessment & Review – Once the assessment is booked, parents/carers submit the Enrolment Application Form. The student completes the assessment, and we request a school reference check from their current school.
  3. Parent Interview – If students pass the assessment and review stage successfully, parents/carers are invited to an interview.
  4. Decision & Offer – Enrolment decisions are based on a student’s academic level, character, and attitude. We consider information from the assessment, school reports, the application form, and the school background check.

Discipline at Alpha Omega focuses on rehabilitation, not punishment. Students are guided to understand their actions, learn from mistakes, and grow, so they can fully participate in a positive, supportive school community.

No uniform policy

At Alpha Omega, students attend school in their own casual clothing as part of a no-uniform policy. This approach prioritises fostering inner standards and authenticity over external appearances, and helps create an environment that reflects the real world.

No bells

Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. With no bells to signal the start and end of classes, they sharpen their time management and build strong habits that will serve them for life.

Alpha Omega’s facilities are designed to support the diverse needs of students. Purpose-built study lounges and common areas cater to both group and independent study, offering spaces that are comfortable, quiet and focused. Students are encouraged to use these areas during their downtime, turning spare moments into productive study or collaborative work while still feeling relaxed and at ease on campus.

Students are given designated study periods, which may be used for independent study, group work, or peer tutoring. Each session is supervised by a Study Supervisor who keeps students on track, offers guidance when needed, and helps create a focused, productive study environment.
